Working out in the Marloth Park veld and in Lionspruit, we naturally have some lovely sightings and build good relationships with our fellow rangers, property owners, residents, volunteers and the Municipality team.

For most people, the call of the Red-chested Cuckoo is very familiar, although this pretty bird itself is not seen as often.
You might know it as the ‘Piet my Vrou” bird. Medium in size, the Red-chested Cuckoo mostly finds insects on its menu. This bird is bigamous, and as is typical of cuckoos, it lays it’s eggs in the nests of other birds, where its chicks will be raised by a surrogate.
